Article: An Emotional Week
Being a personal trainer is a job that can bring many highs, moments of great achievements and huge amounts of job satisfaction. However, it can also be incredibly frustrating, disappointing and physically and emotionally exhausting. I have spent many sleepless nights trying to work out how to communicate better, how to help people understand what they have to do to get the results they want and most of all and I mean most of all, how to help women feel better about themselves and not so defined by their weight. This is one of the reasons that I rarely show an abs picture or a real posed look at me picture. I want my message to be about being fit, strong and healthy and not about how flat my stomach is.
A big change in my life came from starting Calisthenics (body weight training). My focus changed from how I looked to what my body could do and how much fun I could have training. I also loved that there was always a new goal to hit, none of which were weight related. However, as a result of training hard and wanting to eat well to support my training, my aesthetic results have been incredible. I have never felt stronger, happier and more in control of my weight.
From my results and hugely positive personal experience I decided to create The Signature Collection, a pre designed body weight programme that was in line with The 4321 Method®️, my existing personal training brand. I created it about 18 months ago and I had the vision that after completing the whole programme, which has 4 stages, Apprentice, G.T, Elite and Master and takes a year to complete, members would enter into the Hall of Fame. Not a place for before and after pics in their underwear, but a true celebration of what they had achieved over the last year, what their body could now do and their self confidence.
The Hall of Fame first opened its doors at the beginning of 2017 with the wonderful Sileas, 24, showing off a full crab! Showcasing incredible flexibility.
This was a big moment, but as two more enter The Hall of Fame, both over 60 by the way and showing off more leg and upper body strength than most people I know half their age, the Hall of Fame has really started to become what I hoped it would be, a celebration of what fitness should be all about, people being able to do more than they ever thought possible.
Not everyone that does the Signature Collection gets it. Many just want to train for a few weeks, lose a few pounds and then move onto the next thing. In many ways that is fine too, not everyone needs or wants the same thing, but for me, I created it for everyone to feel like they can achieve more and in particular for women to be defined by more than just their abs. This week, I feel like I have taken a big step in getting there and the Hall of Fame is something that makes me feel very very happy and a little emotional! View Hall of Fame
