ARTICLE: MY FOOD PLAN 29-7-17
A busy weekend ahead, which I am really looking forward to! A lot of people I train get nervous or worried about socialising because they think it will knock them off track, which I can completely understand. However, it does not need to be that way it is all about taking control of the situation.
As you can see from my food plan every single week, I am very strict during the working week. No junk food, no alcohol, no excess really. There are a few reasons for this. The first and most important may surprise you as it is not about weight or calorie restriction it is about feeling good. My work days are incredibly long and my week is very busy, therefore I like to have lots of energy, feel positive, motivated and get good quality sleep (I might not get a lot of hours, but I want them to count!). Eating well means I feel this way all week, but if I eat junk or eat excessively I feel sluggish, tired and demotivated. Therefore, eating well is an easy choice to make. Of course, it also means that I stay on top of my weight and leaves room for some socialising at the weekend, which are the other main benefits of planning my food this way.
If you like to socialise at the weekend and that will likely involve eating out, drinking and/or sweet treats then you need to some how make room for it within your regime. The only way to do this is to stay on top of what is happening during the week and if you can keep this part of the week virtually perfect, then there is room for some indulgences at the weekend. It is just about planning and, in a way, budgeting for it! This also puts you in control of your week and stops you always playing catch up or chasing your tail the following week.
Of course a weekend full of excessive eating and drinking is not ideal for weight loss, health or well being, so I am not going to pretend that you can get away with anything if you plan appropriately, but you can find some room to socialise without calories or weight loss ruining your weekend.
