ARTICLE: MY FOOD PLAN 3-6-17
Another week, another food plan! It really has just become a regular part of my week and now I cannot go shopping until I have done it. If I do, I just don’t know what I am buying! The best part of a food plan though is that I always make sure I put in food that I love eating. I really believe meal times should be something to look forward to and, because I make sure all of mine are awesome, I subsequently find it easy to resist mindless snacking.
Snacking is important when needed. I always have my snacks when I am genuinely hungry. Some days I need two if it is a really long day and others just the one. Now a days I rarely feel the urge for a sweet treat though and that is because my meals are both satisfying and filling. You will notice I almost never have a sandwich at lunch time. This is not to do with avoiding bread or to do with calories, it is because when I have a sandwich for lunch I am always hungry just an hour or so later, which is no use when I know I wont be having dinner until 9.
If I do feel the need for a sweet treat or in my case a biscuit (I love biscuits) I would have one, but I find now the less I eat these treats the less I actually want them. I do have a square of dark chocolate with a coffee now and again, because I like that combination and I find that if I have one piece of dark chocolate I wont want another, whereas one hobnob could easily lead to several!
Snacking is normally the main area of excess in people’s diet. Their meals are normally healthy enough, but rarely filling enough, which is why snacking becomes such a big part of their day. If you are looking at ways to change your diet to help you lose weight, my biggest piece of advice would be to eat bigger meals and snack less. You will be amazed at how much the snacking can add up especially if they are sugary snacks.
